The study of language

Year 9 bilingual students were invited to take part in a ‘Languages Progression Day’ at the School of Oriental and African Studies in Russell Square, London. The day was designed for speakers of Bengali, Somali, Turkish and Arabic and gave students the opportunity to take part in workshops and provide them with more information about studying their native languages at university.

The day was a great success and provided students with a unique insight into the importance of languages and how they can impact on future career prospects. It was also a great opportunity for students to tour a university campus and gain an insight into what life is like at university.
