Year 11 students' successes
Regent High School is celebrating the impressive performances of many students in this year’s GCSE examinations. The results mean that students will have access to a wide selection of courses for post-16 study, providing a firm foundation for success as they progress to Regent Sixth Form or elsewhere, to study a variety of A Levels and BTEC National courses.
Stand-out individual performances include:
Mobin Ahmadi, who previously attended Edith Neville Primary School, achieved an outstanding 9 A* grades, 2 A grades and 1 B grade;
Jason Lee, who joined Regent High School in the middle of Year 7, achieved a very impressive 13 GCSE grades including 3 A* grades, 8 A grades and 2 B grades;
Abdul Khan, who was a pupil at Argyle Primary School, achieved 2 A* grades, 1 Distinction* grade, 6 A grades and 2 B grades;
Raisa Ahmed and Kolsuma Begum, who both attended Edith Neville Primary School, achieved 2 A* grades, 5 A grades and 4 B grades each;
Fahmida Begum, who also previously attended Edith Neville Primary School, achieved 6 A grades, 3 B grades and 2 C grades.
Fahmida, who has been a Student Ambassador since Year 7, said: ‘There is an amazing atmosphere to do so much at Regent High School. The learning here is unbelievable. Teachers care about your wellbeing and want to make a difference.’ Fahmida is looking forward to joining Regent Sixth Form in September to further her studies in English Literature, Government and Politics, History and Sociology before applying to university.
Shahid Deen, Deputy Headteacher, commented: ‘I would like to congratulate our students who have worked extraordinarily hard to achieve these excellent results, and to their dedicated and committed teachers who have supported them on their journeys. It is impossible to make comparisons with previous years because of the ongoing changes to exams from year-to-year, but there is no question that our 2016 results reflect students’ very strong progress, regardless of their starting points.’
Regent Sixth Form successes
Regent Sixth Form students and staff are celebrating another successful year of A Level and BTEC National results.
A number of students have been successful in securing places at a range of universities, including Russell Group institutions King’s College London, Queen Mary, University of London, and the University of Sheffield, alongside places at institutions including Anglia Ruskin, Birkbeck, University of London, City University London, De Montfort, Goldsmiths, Ravensbourne, Southampton Solent and Westminster. These ambitious students will be studying a variety of courses, ranging from Computer Science to Music, and Product Design to International Business.
Students have also been successful in securing apprenticeships with Deloitte and AAT as the first step in their careers in accountancy.
Outstanding individual performances include:
Oliver Feghali, who has been awarded A Level A grades in Mathematics and Psychology and a B grade Physics, alongside an A grade in AS Level Further Mathematics. Oliver will be taking a gap year during which he is going to be an Assistant Teacher, before going to the University of Sheffield in 2017 to read Mathematics and Philosophy;
Akshata Mishra, who achieved an A in A Level Media Studies and Bs in A Level English Literature and Government and Politics. Akshata is taking a gap year during which she is going to complete an internship, and will then be going to Queen Mary, University of London, to study Politics and International Relations;
Naeem Ali, who achieved an A in Sociology, a B in English Literature and a Distinction* in BTEC Performing Arts. Naeem is going to King’s College London to study Philosophy, hoping to then become a writer;
Faisa Adde, who achieved a double Distinction* and a Distinction in the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science, and who also has confirmed a place at King’s College London to study Adult Nursing.
Year 12 students are also celebrating success at AS Level. Tatenda Kirya achieved A/B/B/C in AS Level History, English Literature, Sociology and Psychology, and Farha Chowdhury achieved A/C/C in English Literature, History and Psychology, exceeding her expectations in doing so.
Assistant Headteacher, Daniel Charlton, said: “I am absolutely delighted that our students have achieved such strong results, which have allowed them to secure places on their chosen courses of study in higher education or in sought-after apprenticeships.
“These results are evidence of their commitment and determination through their studies at Regent Sixth Form, and the effort dedicated to independent study and ongoing revision.”
