School Council wins recognition in National Award
We are delighted to announce that our School Council has been announced as a runner up in 11-16 age category of the 2012 Speaker’s School Council Awards run by Parliament’s Education Service and the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP, having successfully entered their innovative teaching and learning projects. Competition was fierce with nearly 300 schools across the UK entering the awards scheme and we have done exceptionally well to receive recognition in these prestigious national awards.
The ‘Learning and Achievement’ committee meet to evaluate teaching and learning at our school. They have designed and implemented a student led inspection to mirror Ofsted, called ‘Insted’ which sees School Council representatives lead lessons with their own tutor groups every half term.
The team of high profile judges recognised our application as inspiring, innovative and ambitious and the engraved plaque to mark this fantastic achievement is testament to the hard work of our School Council.
