Regent Sixth Form success 2015

Regent Sixth Form students and staff are celebrating another successful year of A Level and BTEC National results, with an overall pass rate of 98%, equivalent to that achieved in 2014.

The A-C pass rate at A Level was 68%, up 6% on 2014.  In addition, and building on the school’s established success at delivering the BTEC National Diploma in Applied Science (equivalent to two A Levels), 100% of students achieved the top grades of Distinction*/Distinction, and in the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Applied Science (equivalent to three A Levels), all of the first cohort of students achieved triple Distinction* results.

A number of students have been successful in securing their places at a range of universities, including Russell Group institutions the University of Manchester and Queen Mary, University of London, alongside places at universities including Brunel, Kingston, Middlesex, Roehampton and Westminster.  These ambitious students will be studying a variety of courses, ranging from Mathematics to English Literature, and Neuroscience to Child Nursing.

Outstanding individual performances include:

Noorudin Buraleh, who achieved four top A Level grades (A/B/B/B) in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Literature and Further Mathematics, and who has secured a place at the University of Manchester to study Mathematics;

Saneah Chowdhury, who achieved an A in Sociology and a B in each of English and History, is going to Queen Mary, University of London, to study English and History with the intention of progressing into a career in secondary school teaching;

Aisha Ahmed, Kawthar Ali, Ayan Sulley and Faisa Yusuf, who each achieved triple Distinction* in the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science, alongside passes in additional A and AS subjects, are all progressing on to university and will be studying Neuroscience (Middlesex), Audiology (Middlesex), Social Work (Brunel) and Early Childhood Studies (Middlesex) respectively.

Rosemary Leeke, Headteacher of Regent High School, commented: “I am thrilled that our students have achieved such brilliant results, which have allowed them to secure places on their chosen courses of study in higher education. 

“These results are evidence of their hard work and determination through their Sixth Form studies, and their commitment to independent study and ongoing revision.  The students have achieved these results despite spending the first year of their Sixth Form experience in temporary accommodation, and have responded wonderfully to the new facilities and opportunities available to them."
