Lights, camera, action for Regent High School students
In November students from Regent High School welcomed the public to their very own film premier at the Curzon Cinema, Soho. The event showcased the films they had created as part of an animation project with award-winning video production company ‘Chocolate Films’ and the prestigious British Library.
The film project enabled students to work with professional filmmakers and develop a passion for a career in the film industry.
Students were required to conduct research and develop the narratives for their animated films over a series of workshops. Regent High School students created two films: The Walk to School, featuring many famous London landmarks, and Monster Me, based on the gothic novel Frankenstein.
In the final week of the project students produced art work and learnt film making, sound recording and editing techniques. Following the public screening at the Curzon Cinema, Regent High students were delighted to receive the news that one of their films has been selected to be part of the Barbican’s ‘Framed Film Festival’, running between 17-25 November. The festival showcased a wide range of local and international films and host activities for young people across London to encourage them to engage with film and cinema.
It was a pleasure to work, once again, with talented students from Regent High School on this highly creative and innovative film project. We have partnered with Regent High School on many projects over the last few years and they always demonstrate a fantastic commitment and enthusiasm to arts and heritage education.
