Creating a sustainable future
Our BTEC Business and Sustainability students went to Kings Cross to sell their organically grown and prepared produce, including a variety of herbs. Equipped with their impressive personal and communication skills, the students successfully sold and traded with the general public, under the close supervision of staff.
With their unique selling point of growing organic plants and vegetation in the midst of one of London’s largest redevelopment sites, the students successfully sold their stock and raised an impressive £180, which will contribute to planting new organic material and organising their very own business conference.
BTEC Business and Sustainability at SCCS is an exciting new course and the first of its kind in the UK. It offers Key Stage 4 students the opportunity to work with some of our exciting partners and supports the Building Schools for the Future programme we are involved with. This year, our students have worked closely with international newspaper The Guardian, construction company Argent and 8th largest law firm in the country, Herbert Smith. As a result of the course and our collaborations with key partners, students have developed a sound understanding of how they can make a positive contribution to their future and increased their awareness of the natural environment and sustainability.
